Login only through Profile link

I have been unsuccessful at login using the login icon, all I get to see is
the page is not available and to check I have an internet connection (Which I
do have). This has been going on for days.

Today I tried logging in via the Profile icon this worked and I was then
able to access this forum and post again!

Any idea's what could be causing the problem with the sign in icon.
