Hi, 10 years of finances at risk so really need some help.

I have Microsoft Money 4, v12. I recently had to reformat my hard
drive so backed everything up to an external drive. I have
reinstalled Microsft Money from original cd, opened with sample and
then tried to open back up file from external drive. The software
opens and works fine, but all my data is missing, its like a new
installation with no accounts or anything. The back up file is 3mb
so
the data is there, what else can I try to get this working properly.
I have taken care not to overwrite the original, but have had several
attempts to get this going now so have deleted all the mny and mbf
files that have been created in my c drive, but still can't get that
data.

Any help really appreciated

Graham

Did you only have the one *.mbf file surviving from your previous
install? Maybe you could search your non-formatted drives for any
*.mbf or *.mny files. I suspect you are too far along after your
format for a file recovery program to recover your *.mbf file from
after the format. You normally would do a File->Restore of a *.mbf
file. In restoring, I would not restore to your "default location",
but instead Browse to your Documents/MyDocuments folder, and choose
a new name.

An empty backup file that is not compressed might be about 3 MB. An
empty compressed backup file would be smaller.

My mistake on the other reply.. You were clear on your version.

I wish I had a better suggestion for you.
