Hi, jlb.
Quicken 2009 - or any other year - will continue working (more or less)
forever. You can continue to make manual entries, print reports, etc.
But the ability to upload/download information to and from the Web and
financial institutions usually ends after 3 years. The 3-year period
usually ends in the Spring, around April. So Quicken 2009 will no longer be
able to download information after about April 2012 - and Q2011 after 2014 -
as I understand it.
The Quicken 2012 Deluxe Help file includes this paragraph:
" How long can I download information into Quicken?
"In an ongoing effort to provide reliable high-quality products and
services, Intuit periodically retires (also known as “sunsets”) older
versions of Quicken, thereby discontinuing online services and live
technical support for these versions. For more information, visit our
website."
Their online page
(
http://quicken.intuit.com/support/he.../GEN82218.html
) says:
"As a Quicken for Windows customer using the 2009 product, your online
services will expire April 27th 2012."
That page also gives sunset dates for earlier years, but not for later ones.

I'm currently using Qdeluxe 2009. Intuit informs me that as of April,
it will no longer work with the bank and to buy Q2012. I think Inuit
has a three-year limit on the software. I see that Q2011 is offered at
reduced prices at Amazon, ebay, etc.. So, if I buy 2011, am I good
until 2014?
