I am struggling to install Accounting Express 2007 each time I try it I get
the same error message: "Setup failed to install SQL Server 2005 Express (MSSMLBIZ)". I have been through the previous posts on here which suggest manally removing and starting the installation again but what ever I do I can't seem to get past this point. I followed this procedure http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945462/en-us to remove the software. I am running XP Professional SP3 on a Toshiba Laptop. I have installed the software on my desktop first time no problem just to prove that it works and it seems to run fine. Below is the log file from the latest attempt. Steve,
Sorry to hear that you are having trouble with SQL setup. It might be useful to check the following SQL Error Log to see if there is additional information about why SQL failed to start. C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Files\SQLSetup0001_STEVE-TOSHIBA_SQL.log In addition, there is a known issue regarding SQL Express 2005 with CPU that does not support cache prefetching. Could you check if your CPU supports cache prefetching? Here is the KB article http://support.microsoft.com/default...EN-US%3B919392 If the CPU is not the cause of the setup failure, may I suggest you try Office Accounting Express 2008, which ships with SP2 version of SQL Express 2005, instead of SP1? Thanks, Benjamin "Steve" <> wrote in message news:7C9862BB-EE13-4865-9257-... >I am struggling to install Accounting Express 2007 each time I try it I get > the same error message: "Setup failed to install SQL Server 2005 Express > (MSSMLBIZ)". > > I have been through the previous posts on here which suggest manally > removing and starting the installation again but what ever I do I can't > seem > to get past this point. I get that exact same error when trying to install Business Contact
Manager-the trial that comes with office pro 2007 trial, it's the second install file (I deselect the accounting feature), and it never installs, it says right after that error message, that the install failed and cannot continue. I have rebooted, and tried to install this in safe mode but get the same error. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know. -- Thanks, Rick "Benjamin [MS]" wrote: > Steve, > > Sorry to hear that you are having trouble with SQL setup. > It might be useful to check the following SQL Error Log to see if there is > additional information about why SQL failed to start. > C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup > Bootstrap\LOG\Files\SQLSetup0001_STEVE-TOSHIBA_SQL.log > > In addition, there is a known issue regarding SQL Express 2005 with CPU that > does not support cache prefetching. Assume your CPU is compatible with SQL 2005 Express, and no other program is
using SQL on your machine, try removing SQL completely with the following steps, before running the BCM or OA setup again. From Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs 1. Select Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and click Remove. 2. In the first dialog, make sure to select the "MSSMLBIZ: Database Engine" radio button. 3. If MSSMLBIZ is the only instance, then select all check boxes in the "Remove SQL Server 2005 common components" panel. 4. Click Next and Finish to proceed with the uninstall. 5. If you have other SQL instance, then stop here, reboot the machine, and try BCM setup. 6. If there is no other SQL instanct, I would go on to clean out all SQL components with the following steps. 7. From Add/Remove Programs, uninstall Microsoft SQL Server VSS Writer. 8. Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server Setup Support Files. 9. Uninstall MIcrosoft SQL Server Native Client. 10. Restart the machine and try BCM or OA install again. Hope that helps. Joyce,
The first thing in your SQL log file below states "The current system does not meet recommended hardware requirements for this SQL Server release. For detailed hardware requirements, see the readme file or SQL Server Books Online." I'm afraid you won't be able to install on this machine. I have checked the requirements for installing the SQL express 2005 & I have
all the specified items. Could my problem be that I use Mozilla instead of IE? If not, is there an upgrade I can do to the computer to meet the requirements? Thanks for your help. Hi Stefano
I saw your other post as well. This news group is for Office Accounting - you might have better luck asking your question in a news group for BCM. Good luck. -- Thanks Jesper http://blogs.msdn.com/jesperbirkolsen/ "Stefano1997" <> wrote in message news:F96D2060-FE39-4ED0-A5DF-... > Hello, > I tried installing 10 times but nothing.
