Hi,
I paid a UK based company £9.95 for inclusion in their internet search
directory, the transaction was done online using my company debit card.

My web site was added to the directory but I never received an invoice,
usually you get one appearing online as soon as the transaction has been
completed but nothing.

I have since emailed this company on several occasions asking for a receipt
but no reply.

How can I put this through my accounts if I don't have any sort of
invoice/receipt, I don't even know if I have been charged VAT ?

Thanks
Peter

If in doubt, don't claim the input tax - it's only £1.48.

Ok, but what happens about the missing receipt/invoice I thought I had to
have a receipt/invoice for everything I spent the companies money on ?
Won't the tax man not like it ?

Ideally, you should have receipts for all expenses for which you want to
claim a tax deduction. Your bank statement will prove the payment, and there
may be some narrative. Also, it seems that you have some correspondence to
substantiate the type of payment.

I should think it most unlikely that the IR would ever request sight of the
receipt for such a small item. Add a few zeros, and the matter might change.
