Hello,

I'm looking for suggestions on methods of reporting monies which someone may invest within a startup company. The startup would not generate income until sometime in 2016. However, the potential investor needs to invest their money and find some way to have it show as income this year (due to other unrelated factors).

The investment would consist of monies to cover the portion of a purchase and construction not covered by the financing. In addition, some money would be put aside in reserve to back debt service for a period once construction is over.

Multiple options/methods/suggestions are welcome. Please advise what further info you need to better answer.

Thank you...

If investor drafts this arrangement as a loan then investor can show income. If investor instead drafts this as equity income from startup's earnings, no way for investor to show income until start up makes income.
