    Is anyone using quicken with Linux? I am running Ubuntu and have Wine
    installed. Would like to drop Windows and stick with Linux. But I need
    Quicken.

    I'm running Quicken H&B 2007 under wine on Linux Mint 11 (Ubuntu 11.04).

    I haven't tried any of the downloading functions, just the basic manual
    entry, which works OK for me.

    Whether a particular release of Quicken will work seems to be a matter
    of chance...

    Here are the notes I've kept for myself on installing....

    =========

    Use Winetricks to install
    - Tahoma
    - corefonts
    - IE (IE6 seems to work best - IE7 may be OK - IE8 has initialization
    failures)

    Install Quicken

    Skip the Q2007 R5 update - sometimes it fails, sometimes it works,
    sometimes Quicken won't start after update

    Manually edit Gnome menu to: wine "/home/<your directory
    name>/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Quicken/qw.exe"

    =============

    FWIW...

    I find it Quicken works better with the open source graphics driver, and
    not the NVIDIA proprietary driver (funny things happen with the menus
    with the latter)

    I imagine that Crossover Linux may support Q2007 out of the box - you
    should look at their website if interested in taking that route

    I run Quicken (and AMEOL) under a VirtualBox WinXP guest on a Linux
    host. Very smooth!

    When away from base, I can use the same WinXP Virtual Disk on my
    laptop, similarly running VirtualBox under Linux.

    VirtualBox is available as part of several Linux distributions, or can
    be downloaded from their web site.

    Much thanks for the replys. With this info I can get the wife off my
    back and get her Quicken up and running.
