I find it very odd strategy that MS appears to be abandoning MSMoney, at a
time when their dominance of PC market is being challenged by Mac and other
platforms. If there is one piece of software that locks users into buying
Microsoft PCs - it is Money!

Indeed, the entire strategy for Money seems odd. I can never figure out why
MS makes separate programs for different regions - why not just make one
version and then offer plugins for different fiscal regimes. Surely this
would be trivial? I use Money UK in France, and it would be really simple to
modify the tax report for French tax forms - if Money allowed users to edit
    the information. But you can't...

    I'm with you Rich,

I am an ex-pat living in the Middle East for the last 20 odd years and have
been using a Money UK version ever since. I don't need to interface to my
banks or print UKtax returns. I just want to keep track of my income,
    expenses, assets and liabilities.

I just want to enjoy the improvements of a better, secure and good product.

    Simon,

Stick with the version of Money that you presently use, unless it is earlier
than Money 2000 (the very old versions did not use the Jet database). Almost
everything M$ has changed, since 2000, has degraded the product. The most
recent versions have 'dumbed down' budgets and they 'report home'. Money
2005 does not even work 'straight out of the box' - you absolutely must go
on-line for a fix. Contractually, read the EULAs, the share price download
service is time limited in newer versions.
