Organise favourite web sites

Discussion in 'Microsoft Money UK' started by Mark Rae [MVP], Oct 5, 2009.

  1. Hi,

Been years since I tried to do this - can't remember if I've ever done it in
Money 2005 on Vista - but I can't add or remove websites from the Favourites
\ Organise Favourites menu because the Web sites... menu item is greyed out.
There's obviously something I'm missing. Can some kind soul please help me
    out...?

    Any assistance gratefully received.

    Mark

You could consider a File->RepairMoneyFile->StandardFileRepair level
1 on a copy of your file. That would remove customised reports, as
well as maybe clearing out those.

If you don't like the result, continue with your existing file.

That removed the customised reports, but didn't allow me to modify the
    website links...

OK. I did some testing in Money Plus. When I typed in a web site and
saved it as a favorite in Money, it put that into a folder in the
    IE8 Favorites called "Financial Links".

Then within Money, Favorites->FavoriteLinks showed that web site.
Favorites->OrganizeFavorites let me see that link that I had saved
There was a Delete button. I guess that is what is not working for
    you.

I found that I could manipulate the links (Delete, Add, etc) by
going to the Favorites in IE8, and working on the link inside the
"Financial Links" folder. Maybe that will work for you with Money
    2005.

No. Like I said, the entire Web sites... submenu is disabled.

What is that submenu that is disabled? I now see
Favorites->FavoriteWebSites in Money. I may have mis-typed before.

I found that I could manipulate (Delete, Add, etc) the links in
Favorites->FavoriteWebSites in Money by going to the Favorites in
IE8, and working on the link inside the "Financial Links" folder.
Maybe working on the links inside the "Financial Links" folder of
IE8 will work as a workaround for you with Money 2005.

If you don't have a "Financial Links" folder at the outer level of
the IE8 Favorites, I would create one in IE8 with Money closed. Then
add a link to something within that folder, and then try Money
    again.

Here using Money 2005 and XP and Favourites \ Organise Favourites \ Web
sites... menu item is also greyed out.

I change links to my banks by going to Accounts / Manage online services /
Select a particular financial institution / View contact info /
    add/del/change the link address.

The Favorite WebSites item under the Favourites menu

I worked that out from your earlier reply, but it didn't help...

Ah, so it's not just me...

Yes, but that doesn't allow addition and deletion of links, unless I'm
    missing something...

For example in my Money file for Barclays Bank the link address shown under
contact information / internet address for Barclays Bank is
http://www.barclays.co.uk/ . I can delete that link address or change it
using the normal alphabetic and delete keys on the keyboard. Alternatively I
can just copy and paste a link address into that field if it is wrong or
    non-existant.

Go to AccountSettings for the account. Click
    UpdateContactInfoForThisBankOrBroker. Change the InternetAddress
    field.
