So what is the scoop with this. I did the payroll download earlier
this year and should've gotten all the new forms. How can I force 2003
forms to my computer (even hack if that is possible) without buying
into a QB payroll plan? Also, I would be very interested in how I can
update my QB 2003 to 2004 payroll tax data without a subscription.

    Thanks for the advice,

The current tax forms are included in current downloads meaning end of
the year only. You will have to 1. Buy a subscription, or 2. use
software outside the program to produce your forms. Hacks are non existent.

Upgrade to QB 2004. It should have the latest forms and tax tables.

If this is not possible, any recommendations on printing out W2s and
W3s as the IRS's PDF versions stated that theres was for reference
    only.

This still makes no sense to me that I buy QB 2003 and later get the
one time free tax table download yet they won't give me the 2003
    forms!

    Thx!

You can buy the payroll tax service for what ever they charge and then
it'll do what you want. You can buy the tax forms at like Office Max
and you can get software with that to do the printing by entering the
info. You can use the old "Royal typewriter" out back, or have your CPA
firm do them. Or you can probably update to 2004 for about the same
cost as the tax service and get a free download good for this year's
    reporting including forms.

They want your cash .. that's why you can't do forms without giving them
    more.

Sorry but this is reality in the world of accounting software.

You can file W2's and W3's online wit the SSA.
    Follow this link. http://www.ssa.gov/employer/bsohbnew.htm
I did this last year. I think there is a limit of 20 or 50 employees.
Not sure if it's what your looking for but it did help me.

  7. Try a 3rd party W2 forms printing and filing such as http://www.magtax.com
