Travelling abroad while on JSA/ND

Hello,

I have been on JSA for some time and I am on New Deal now.

In between one of these lovely New Deal courses, I would like to take
a cheap and short break abroad, about 3-4 days including a weekend. I
have some questions about it:

1) Am I supposed to notify the Jobcentre that I am going abroad?

2) If 1) = true and if I wanted to stay on the safe side of the law,
should I quit the benefit, come back and reapply or would they simply
discount the days I have been abroad from my next payment?

3) If I decide not to tell the Jobcentre, what could practically
happen to me? Could they (and would they be be bothered to)
investigate about my travels abroad? Would they go and check my bank
account, credit card, list of people gone abroad, etc? In practice
could I simply take a short holiday abroad and sleep well at night?

Thank you

Frell

If you tell JS that you are away strictly speaking you are not
available for work. How about telling them that you are going to
explore the possibility of finding work away from home and go and
enjoy yourself knowing that you have told the truth.
