USA 1099 NEC Copy 1 for State Tax Department

Do we need to send 1099 NEC Copy 1 to FTB by 2/28/2021 if we do paper file?

If the company has less than 250 informarion returns, we do not have to send copy 1 to FTB because IRS will send it to FTB. Is this true?

That is a very much discussed issue in the tax profession right now.
The answer is - it depends upon EACH STATE's policy. You need to contact FTB
for California's policy.
