2008 Pro W/ BCM Integration on remote SQL 2005 Server upgrade erro

I have Accounting 2007 Pro installed on my Vista client and SQL 2005 Server.
I can open the company file from both and it works fine. I also have BCM
Integration on and it works fine as well. I installed 2008 on both. When I
open the file on the SQL server, it asks me if I want to upgrade the data. I
say yes, accepting the backup location and new company file location. When
it begins the upgrade process, it waits about 15 seconds and then comes back
with the following error:

"An error has occured while establishing a connection to the server....
(Provider: Named Pipes Provider, error:40 - Could not open a connection to
the SQL server)

I know this is bunk because A) It's not a remote connection, B) the
configuration settings to allow for remote Named Pipes and TCP settings have
been validated, and C) it works just fine with 2007. What do I need to do to
make it work? I'd rather not backup and restore as I have read many people
say some of their personalization was lost. Any ideas?
