Account Balance to B Sheet

I've got a question, which I have never seen addressed anywhere.

Are single account balances sometimes divided over multiple balance sheet line items?

For example, if a particular prepaid expense is prepaid for two years, it seems that half of the account balance should allocate to "other current assets" or an equivalent Bsheet line item, and the other half should go to "other (long-term) assets" or equivalent.

Or, if a company plans to sell 25% of its holdings in a particular stock in the next year, then 25% of that account balance should go to "short term investments" on the Bsheet, while 75% goes to "other (long term) assets" or equivalent.

Thank you

Yup, and you can see that same logic at work over on the other side of the balance sheet pretty regularly:

If I have a loan outstanding which has a current total balance of 100,000 and which calls for a monthly payment of 2,000 of principal (plus some interest on each payment), then my balance sheet will show that 100K debt as 24,000 in the current liabilities and 76,000 in the noncurrent.
