USA Accounting major, how do I get my foot in the door?

As the title says, Im studying accounting, and just wondering where some of you first started working in an accounting related field. Many jobs even bookkeeping jobs require at least two years experience.

Hi, let me share my first hand on experience. I started joining an audit firm as a trainee. I got a monthly allowance for the job (not a salary). I was trained in various industries during my first year. Got a basic knowledge how Accountant’s and Auditor’s works get done. On the second year I'm more mature and very attentive & effective with my job. Offered a promotion but i needed to earn some money. So quit the firm and got a job as accounts assistant.

I recommend you to start your career from an audit firm. You will get your door open to the ever growing accounting world.
