Hello,

Is there a specific name for the total debits and total credits of an account? Say we have a cash account with 1,000 in debits and 700 in credits for one month, therefore a debit balance of 300 - what are the 1,000 and 700 called in accounting terminology? credit/debit monthly/period movement, turnover?

Many thanks,

"$1,000 in total debits for the month"
and
"$700 in total credits for the month"
But I think the UK guys do have a special term for this - maybe they will respond.(movement?)

Thank you for your answer. In some languages there is such a term in order to distinguish between total period debits/credits and total debits credits, which include the beginning balances. UK guys?
