Adobe Acrobat & Quicken

John Hoser

To all,

I have Quicken working.
I have Adobe Acrobat Pro working and creating PDF files from all
Windows applications.

When I try to print an Invoice from Quicken (that is print an Adobe
PDF file) it (Adobe Acrobat) fails and reports an Adobe error when
trying to create the PDF file for the Quicken Invoice.....

Anybody else have that problem?
What B the fix?

Acrobat only fails to create a PDF file when printing from inside
Quicken. Strange...

When I try to print an Invoice from Quicken (that is print an Adobe

What error? What versions? I dont know if we are discussing the same
thing or not, but I do have a problem with Q2005 printing invoices to
Acrobat 6.0.3 PDF. Error says "Unable to find Adobe Resource files"
and offers to repair it from the Acrobat CD, but it doesnt fix it.

The same error message also adds the path: "D:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Documents\Adobe PDF 6.0\Settings\(some garbaged
binary stuff here that I cant type).joboptions - clearly garbaged and
wrong file names, and would seem to be the problem.

My system does not even have that \Documents\ folder, instead it has a
"\All Users\Shared Documents\Adobe 6.0\Settings\standard.joboptions"
folder and files, which is probably what it wants to find. This
appears to be my problem, but I dont know how to fix it.

However, this seems to only affect printing Invoices to PDF. I can
print reports to PDF, and also the older versions (Q2004, Q2002,
Acrobat 4) also always printed invoices to PDF. And of course other
programs print to PDF also. I dont know if it is a Quicken problem or
an Adobe problem, but I'd guess Quicken.

Yup.

Same problem.
Yes, must be Quicken 2005, since I can print PDF's from all other
Windows apps!.
What is wrong with Quiken? Their web site is no help and does not
acknowledge problem...

UseNet.

news://adobeforums.com/adobe.acrobat.windows

It has already been reported there by a couple of people.

But my guess is that it is a Quicken problem, because:

1. Q2005 can print reports to Acrobat PDF, just not the Invoices.
2. Older Quicken versions can print anything to Acrobat PDF.
3. All other programs can print to Acrobat PDF.

So I would suggest reporting it (again) to Quicken, at

I have no doubt that Quicken is NOT conforming to Win32 Print APIs.

I just suggested the Adobe forums such that the Adobe techs. can view the problem in
writing. If it is already in a thread or two in the Adobe News Groups -- Good !

The issue does show up in the private adobe forums. I had version 5
and no problem in Qucken 2004. Just upgraded to version 7 standard and
have the same problem with ANY report including just a basic check
register. I suspect the problem lies with acrobat since version 5
works just fine. Never used v. 6 of acrobat.
