I have worked in manufacturing (heavy truck parts) for the past fifteen years in various positions ranging from Department Supervisor to Quality Engineer. Five years ago, I decided that I needed a career change, so I went back to school to work toward a degree in Accounting. I have since received a BSBA and am finishing the MSA program at Liberty University next month. I plan to sit for the CPA exam this fall and next spring. Being married with four children left the option of an internship off of the table, so I have not gained any working experience in the field. My question is, what advice does anyone have on "getting my foot in the door" in public accounting. I have been on two interviews and have responded to several openings and have gotten little positive feedback. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.
