Most of the credit cards my wife and I have are listed with me as the
primary and her as the secondary. Of the credit card debt we have ( over
40K ), probably 90 % is on my cards. My real question is, can I file BK
myself and not have it show up on my wifes records ? A few thousand in card
debt we could probably swing, but not $40 K.

She is mostly concerned about her employment possibilities in the near
future. While it is illegal to discriminate based on finanacial condition,
it is well known that for hiring puposes it has a significant affect. She
has always made the most money and is more marketable than I am.

Thanks !

If your W is legally liable for payment of the cc debt, she must keep the cc
account current or it will affect her credit.

I am responsible party. She is an authorized user on two accounts. From my
understanding, I am the one legally liable. I am the person the collectors
are asking for, not her.

Try to get her removed as an AU before filing bk. If she's still on
as AU there's a good chance the IIB notation will show up on her
reports also.
