American Express Being Declined With CV Failure

I'm using Accounting Express 2008 setup with a First Data Merchant Account.

VISA cards process fine. American Express cards however give me a "Failure
CV" error. I called First Data and American Express and they both said it's
because the Microsoft software is requiring me to enter the American Express
CVV/CID code (the security code) but that American Express system isn't setup
to accept it and thus it's causing the transaction to fail. They said I need
to turn it off in the software.

But where could I possibly do that at? When I click on Credit Card
Processing, there's nothing useful there I can do. I can't call Microsoft
and ask since I'm using the free version and i don't want to use up one of my
two free email support credits.

Hi, were you able to fix this? I am having the same problem and First
Data told me the same...:(

Yes. Once I actually got ahold of Microsoft phone support for Office
Accounting, a guy named Shane there was very helpful. IF your problem is the
same as mine, then it is First Data's fault

First Data is supposed to send the information about your merchant account
to a company called T Systems (or TSys). First Data did NOT send my data to
TSys and that's why it was getting rejected for American Express cards.
Shane called First Data and T Systems himself and got it fixed for me, but I
imagine you could do the same thing yourself. So I imagine you could just
call First Data and tell them that.

I'm sending you an email to the address you have listed on this forum. It's
a voicemail from Microsoft Support explaining the problem. Might help you a
little.

I wasted a HUGE amount of time trying to get this fixed. Hopefully you can
get it resolved quickly.

This worked for me as well. It took a few calls to First Data and being
transfered between them and the back end processor, but they finally fixed
it. The problem was on First Data's side.

I'm glad this thread helped you. This problem was a huuuuuge bitch to get
fixed and I'm glad I can help anyone else resolve it.
