American Express - Download Available!!!

S

Simon

I just downloaded my first statement details from the American Express
website! Well done American Express.

I got a few Runtime errors during the process (teething problems I guess) -
but it worked.

Now I just hope Egg, Cahoot and other banks will follow suit, and provide a
download statement facility.

Happy downloading all other Amex card holder! (N.B. I have a Blue card -
which offers 1% cashback - only downside is that not many places accept
Amex).

Thanks for posting - what format are they making it available in? I have a
corporate Amex, so will have to try this myself, if I can do it :)

QIC (I think) it states Microsoft Money 1997 and later. They also have a
Quicken & Excel download format.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I also have a blue card but could
not find where to download statements. Can you point me
in the right direction.

Select Unbilled Charges
Scroll down
Click Download Details
Click billing period you want to download
Click "Selected Periods QIF file"
Click "Download Now" (At this point, I get the message A Runtime Error has
occurred - do you wish to debug - I click No, then the details download to
Money)

Hope this helps,

Can't see the 'download details' option myself. Will wait until I have some
transactions on the account before I try again. Are you going in through the
UK or US web site?

I have an Amex Charge card and the route to download seems to be.

1. Login on UK site
2. Go to My Account
3. Go to Check your Account and click on Choose my st@tement.
4. Register and according to the FAQ MS Money is a download option.

Yep got it now. It was the st@tement stuff that I needed to do, converting
from a paper one to an electronic one

S

Simon

Yes, sorry for the confusion. I selected the st@tement option the other
day - I didn't realise the download option was not there before I selected
it.

Thanks, I have signed up for my st@tement, for the
benefit of others please see extract from Amex's website
below.

Can I download my online statement?
Yes, exclusively for Cardmembers who choose My St@tement,
we will provide the option to download your online
statement in to your choice of Quicken, MS Money, MS
Excel or Lotus 123. Alternatively, you may choose to save
an html version of your online statement.

Frustrated Amex User

I've just taken a look at this and it seems I have to
give up on paper statements to be allowed to download my
AMEX statement online.

This is really frustrating because my main reason for
starting with AMEX, years ago in the US, was that they
offered online downloads when few other banks did. They
finally get around to offering in the UK but tie it up
with unacceptable conditions.

Bah humbug.

Banks do not seem to be moving to downloadable statements at all fast - it
is very fustrating.

Suits me fine.I hate paper statements (by the time the statement arrives,
I've already seen the data online) - plus it wastes tree's.

Wonder why they dont offer OFX downloads too.

I think the slow move to online banking is due to at least this:

1) Security paranoia
2) IT execs inability to deliver a business case for it
3) Internal Politics - job preservation

I'd add the competition element. If they don't have much competition (unlike
the US), then they don't seem to do it, unless others do, who don't because
no one else is...

I keep going back to the egg debate - there was a time that MSN Money was
swamped with Egg ads then the MS Money news section within the application
was abused by yet more ads from egg yet yet yet they have still not
integrated with the application at all.

I wonder if other banks will ever bother.

If we all wrote to our banks and asked for the service, they might take note
and put the facility on their plans.

If you don't ask - you don't get!

And now I try the QIF download I get a "Runtime Error" do you wish to debug
Line 227 etc

Unless this is a bug with my windows config, this is a rubbish service too
