Another Child Tax Credit Unemployment Benefit Question

I will try to be as brief as possible. I was out of work Nov 2002 to May
2003 so was on JSA when the CTC came in. I initially got £10 something a
week. I notified the IR that my circumstances had changed and the IR sent me
an incomplete photocopy of a form to fill in ie it didn't ask me about
unearned income. I restarted work in May and signed off. In May the bank
giros for the CTC stopped and I started to get £66 a week paid into my bank
account. The significance of the form now sunk in but I couldn't convince
the IR they had got it wrong.
In November I had a demand from the DWP to repay £377.77 for overpaid
JSA. I appealed because the IR are overpaying me but no appeal is allowed
but the DWP did say that I can reclaim the JSA if the IR revise the CTC
downwards, ha, ha, ha, I will believe that when I see it.
Now as and when I have to repay the IR the overpaid CTC and the DWP
repay some of the JSA that they forced me to repay I will presumably have to
notify the IR that the amount of Benefit I received was larger than stated.
The amount of CTC will be revised down and I will have to repay CTC for the
second time. I will then have to renotify the DWP that the amount of CTC was
less than quoted and I will get another refund of JSA and so on and so on.
Is my interpretation rubbish, if so how does it work. The DWP wont
answer any letters, the IR are clueless and my MP is no use either. What
alarms me is that 30000 of the clueless buggers at the DWP are about to lose
their jobs and 10000 at the IR. What the hell will happen then.

Thanks

Kevin

Get in touch with your MP, and involve the local press if you feel up to it.
It's two government departments fighting for their own fiefdom. Unfortunately,
you're caught right up in the middle.

Seriously, do something quickly otherwise you'll find yourself owing more money
than you actually received.
