We have a smallish company (40 employees) and are looking at using
netsuite as our accounting software.

Does anyone have any good/bad experiences with this software?

thanks,

Have you already gotten Netsuite? The reason I ask is that if not, maybe
you should look at http://www.a-systems.net and get a trial copy of Visual
Bookkeeper. This software is simple and very inexpensive while also being
very comprehensive.

I have not gotten anything nor expect to get anything at all from A-Systems.
I just know a simple, comprehensive, and inexpensive piece of software that
gets the job done when I see it.

Anonymous John,

The spirit of newsgroups is to share information that will benefit all
participants. Like Wayne, I weigh in on accounting software issues.
Also like Wayne, I contribute on other issues that I have insights
into. My recent posts have included a detailed explanation of
inflation, whether it is a good idea to study accounting, my insights
into Sarbanes-Oxley, and some ideas on writing a business plan for a new
restaurant. All of these posts took time out of my day with no hope or
desire of getting anything in return. This is the spirit of positive
contributions that makes newsgroups work. I, like Wayne and most of the
other professionals that participate in this newsgroup, share our
opinions when others ask and we have something meaningful to contribute.

Because what we offer are our opinions, and we never say anything other
than that, we expect there to be others that see things differently.
That way everyone gets different perspectives on the questions they post.

Then you come along. I don't understand why anyone would make it their
business to anonymously attack someone simply because they offered an
opinion or a suggestion. Wayne has obviously seen our software and is
impressed that it is just what I have represented it to be on this
newsgroup. His opinion is based on actual experience and his expertise
in his field. You may be surprised to know that we have received many,
many inquiries from professionals who were reading this newsgroup when I
suggested they checkout my software. The feedback from them has all
been positive. Their only complaint is that some of them have a bunch
of clients on software that is inferior by comparison and moving to a
new accounting program will be a huge undertaking. When asked, we send
out a full running version of our software for potential clientele to
use for free. All they have to do is ask. We let the software speak
for itself and it speaks well to professionals.

Your anonymous attack on Wayne for offering his professional opinion
reflects poorly on you, not Wayne.
