Any news when MS will release MS Money Offline version?

This fall or later?

No news, but sometime between now and then seems about right. IF they really
do what they've said they'll do (and I do consider the possibility they
won't) there is no burning need to do it before 1/31/2011.

Thanks for your opinion.

Would be better to get it this fall and not after two years :(

1/31/2011 is about 330 days away. So, if they are going to do it before some
people will start getting irrecoverably broken, the wait is 300 days or
less. I guarantee, today, that there WILL be people posting about the
inability to re-active M+ within 48 hours after the activation service
stops. Lots of people seem to reinstall with great frequency.

Why is MS going to release a offline version. Won't the current version of
MOney work as if it was an offline version once the downloads stop working?

The problem is that the downloaded version of M2007 and all versions of M+
need to be authenticated when installed (or REinstalled). As the
authentication servers will shut down on 1/31/11, one will not be able to
reinstall Money on a new computer or a reformatted one. Therefore, MS needs
to produce a version that does not require this on line registration.

That's true, until you need to reinstall. At that point you would
need to activate with 60 days, but the activation server will be
gone. The no-DRM version will not need the activation.

In all the posts about the off line version, I've seen nothing
mentioned about cost.
I presume the no activation version will not be free, even for those
who have a version with current on line services available. And
probably won't be any cheaper than the last version.

I'm presuming it will be free--but I'm also betting there will be some kind
of entitlement check somehow.

What's the problem - don't you trust Microsoft?

They would never let down loyal customers!

I expect that this offline_version will be for sale for new customers (like
me) and not only for those who already had previous versions.

My guess: it will be free for current MS Money owners. But it will cost (or
will be unavailable at all) for new customers.

I'm betting on the unavailable side of that OR.
