Are CPA Prep Classes necessary?

I am thinking about signing up for Becker prep classes, has anyone taken the test without prep classes? Are the classes helpful or can you get by without them?

Everything I've heard is that review courses are absolutely necessary. I'm gearing up for the CPA exam myself and looking into Yeager.

The CPA exam is a mile wilde and an inch deep. The review courses cover what the test covers, and only to depth needed. If nothing else, I'd take them just to get a feel for what you're in store for.
