Australian Tax Office grief with QB 7.4

Dylan

I've just been asked by the Australian Tax Office to provide them a
copy of my BAS for Jul-Sep 2000. I shut up my business in 2001.

I have managed to install QB 7.4 (I found a disk lying around) and
have opened my old business financials file. However, I can't create a
BAS for that date. The system won't allow me to generate one for
before July 2002!!

I'm really stuck with this. I can't afford to be fined. I can't even
afford to call Quickbooks tech support! We are at a really stressful
time right now, with my wife in hospital and debts up to our eyeballs.
I'm at home looking after the kids.

The ATO is coming to my home next week to work this out. Can anyone
help me out!!

Hopelessly,
Dylan.

Where in Australia are you? I may be able to help you find a Quicken
Accredited Trainer who will be able to help.

I just checked all my versions and they all do the same. They take you
back two years from today.

But if you change the system date to 2002, instead of 2004, Bingo!!

It is silly - and I am not sure the Reckon people know of this issue.
I will be raising it with them today.

In any case, you can still run the Tax Detail, Tax Summary and Tax
Liability reports that will deal with the GST side of the problem for
earlier dates.

For PAYG-W you need to run the payroll reports or a quick report on
the PAYG account you have been using (hopefully a liability account to
collect the weekly/fortnightly obligation and then debited when the
cheque is made out to the ATO.
