Bank Recs

Hi

I have a problem in QB 2004 Aust version. I have 3 bank accounts, 2 I am
able to reconcile, the other one just hangs the system. I have run the
repair and the data verifier and it didn't help

Anyone have any suggestions on how to maybe fix this ( I know it's a long
shot )

Is there any other tools around to fix this sort of issue.

It's running on a new XP machine, single user, no network . No internet, no
virus's

Another program locked the machine up and we had to reset it, ever since we
have had this issue

Try to back up the file. When you back it up, select the option box at
the bottom that says "Verify Data Integrity". Restore the file and you
may find that the problem no longer occurs.

Did you read the QBWIN.LOG file after a rebuild to find out what
errors were fixed and which ones were not. You may get a clue as to
what transaction is causing the problem.

Thanks Bob

It's actually a friends system, I wasn't ware of the log file until after I
posted this. I am going to have a look at it tonight. Would it normally tell
me if there was a problem, or just log it? When I run the repair etc I get
no errors

The Rebuild will fix errors that are not found by the Verify utility.
I wouldn't bother with Verify in this case. It does nothing. Rebuild
fixes most things, but sometimes it will find a corrupt transaction.
It will note it in the QBWIN.LOG file so you can find it and usually
if you delete the lines in the split window of the transaction and
redo them it will fix it. If not delete the whole transaction and do
it again.

Scroll to the bottom of the QBWIN.LOG to find the latest rebuild
information (it is appended to the file by the utility).

You can find the QBWIN.LOG file easily by <CTRL>1 to bring up the
product information. <CTRL>2 while this is open brings up the Tech
Helper. Go to the Open File tab and select QBWIN.LOG.

If this fails, Quicken Australia will charge you a motza to look at
your file and fix. You need to choose between the price and making a
new file if this is the case.

Good luck.
