Branding Store Operations

I have swapped out the "Microsoft Store Operations" image files with a
customized image file that contains my own logo and store name... looks great
in the manager application... but, does anyone know if I can customize the
POS Cashier log-on screen? I really want to remind people they work for my
company, not Microsoft.

Any suggestions or tricks greatly appreciated.

The only option I'm aware of is to Ctrl-F6 while in POS, click on the
Transaction Screen tab, enable the "Display HTML status Bar On Top" button,
reduce the height to 4, and save. Your company name should be visible. I
don't think you can remove the Microsoft Store Operations POS in the upper
most bar. I think it's probably a reminder that we all sort of work for
Microsoft in a way (g).

Forgot to mention - the source file of the HTML Status Bar is in the HTML
subdirectory under Store Ops - it's called status.html.

Hi Eric,

The logon screen in RMS is built into the EXE so there is no direct way to
edit this image.

So what's up with their demo videos that show a changed screen?

I think the better way to handle everything is for Microsoft to have an
"Adobe Acrobat" type loading screen just when the program is first opened,
but allow the company to brand everything else, including the cashier screen,
etc., with their own image... it might seem like a small detail, but when
used by companies, particularly mid-sized cos., it's quite important to
deliver a consistent image.

Vote for this post... it is easy for MS to do.

It'll never happen. Nor should it. Do you put your store name over the
manufacturers name on your monitor or pc or receipt printer for your
cashiers to see? Just use the method I described.

I cover up my Ford emblem on my steering wheel.

Every once in a while, I peel it off to make sure that I'm in the right car,
while talking on my cell, eating a 3/4 lb. burrito, reading the current
issue of Maximum PC magazine, while driving down the freeway at 80 mph! ;-)
Now that's multi-tasking!!

What do you cover it up with - a picture of Melinda Gates?

Na, one of those million dollar bills like that lady back in Illinois tried
to cash at Wal-mart, a couple of years ago!!

I figured if I was ever stopped by a cop, he might accept it as a donation
to the Police Benevolent Association, instead of giving me a ticket!! ;-)

If I drove a Ford, I would cover it up too! (just kidding)

Seriously, though, Microsoft has built a very robust system, but there is
still room for improvement... the few things its lacking:

-Inventory Modeling
-Avg. Sold, Same Period, Last Year
-Avg. 2 Week Sales for last X month period
- etc. etc.
AND IT NEEDS TO UPDATE THE REORDER POINTS TO THE SAME!
-Loss Prevention (option to have very tight return policies, requirement to
enter original ticket info, etc.)
-Really Really Tight G/L Integration
-More Secure Stock X-Fer
-Scrap option for inventory used @ the store or deffective returns
-Calculate Min Due as % of Balance
