How can you be out of work for a year and still end up paying taxes? My husband has been off work for almost a year and he was collecting unemployment during this time. We didn't have taxes taken out because the unemployment was already less than we were used to him getting while working. I don't understand if you don't have a job how you are expected to also pay taxes. Its not like he wasn't looking for work, the construction industry in Michigan stinks!
