I have been offered 10% holding in a company for 32k and was wondering what
is the cheapest way to buy these shares in terms of certificates and
registering etc

Any advice is appreciated

Hi Cheesey, this is a question for the Company Secretary. He will issue
your certificates, take your money, notify The Registrar of Companies in
Cardiff (hello Cardiff!), pay over stamp duty at 0.5% (at this
point someone will jump and tell me I don't know what I'm talking
about).

More important than this is that you are going to place £32k where you
will have no control over it, no means of getting it back. Have you
invested in a little professional advice? How do you define "cheap"?

Or the other shareholders (assuming that there are not too many) could sell
you the relevant number of shares - depending on their personal CGT
position.
