USA C Corporation Dividends

If a C corp pays dividends to a shareholder throughout the year, and throughout the year that shareholder is putting money back into the company, would the money going back in offset the dividend account, or should it be put towards capital contribution?

The dividend acct does not get offset.
If you issued additional shares then record the credit to "Capital Stock"
If no shares issued, then record to "paid in capital"
