Hi, I'm a freelance in California and I have a question about how to number an invoice.
I read a lot of information online and I already know that you can numbering them in any way you want (with number, numbers+letters, based on the name/code clients, based on month, year, you own "secret code"... etc).
Usually invoice numbers ascend chronologically, for better manage them, but, do they have to be consecutive?
For example I've just started as freelancer and I don’t want my clients knowing how much work is crossing my desk right now.... can I number an invoice INV-001 and the next INV-007 ?? I can't find a California official document where to learn about it.
Thanks,
