Hi everyone, Im a junior in college. I just started working in accounts payable. I have no accounting experience. I've taken Principles of Accounting 1 & 2, Intermediate Accounting 1. I'm currently taking Intermediate Accounting 2. I plan to stay in A/P for a year, 2 at most...

But I want to be competitive in the accounting field & make a lot of money.

-What are some career paths within accounting that I should look into?
-What internship or job position should I pursue after this accounts payable job? I'm looking for internships or jobs to advance my prospects and maximize the use of my time.....

If you want to go big 4, figure out if there's a summer leadership opportunity now for you to apply! Then after your senior year you would do an internship. Make sure that if you have recruiters on campus you go to the events where they are and get involved. That distinguishes you from other applicants who just hand in their resumes and haven't done the networking. I only know this because I'm in my senior year and I'm super far behind at this point on the big four track.

Otherwise I don't really know yet. I'm still trying to weigh out my own options.
