I am a foreign citizen (old EU) and I lived quite a few years in the UK
and I have spent a few months abroad (EU, but not my own country). I had
a temporary contract and it has expired without it being renewed ( I
wasn't fired or laid off). Coming back to the UK, with the current
political climate, would there be any reasons why I shouldn't be
considered for JSA? Thanks

The latest EU ruling states that any EU citizen who arrives in the UK
is entitled to JSA and HB from the minute they arrive. David Camerons
plan is to kick English people off benefits to pay for this.

Nitehawk is correct.

As the transition arrangements have come to an citizens of most EU states
can now come to the UK and claim benefits pretty well immediately including
JSA and Housing Benefit. As many thousands are expected to arrive in a
short space of time you may find quite a delay in processing any claim
though so make sure you have sufficient money to last you at least a couple
of months.
