Chapter 7 Medical question

Judith Marrs

I am new here...hello...my question is if you file a chapter 7 mainly
because of medical bills because your insurance company did not pay their
part, what happens if you ever need to use that hospital or physician group
again...it was file chapter 7 or have my paycheck garnished so i had no
choice and the insurance company is a pure joke...Mississippi state workers
insurance...don't even get me started...

Thanks a lot...

Judith:

The physician and the hospital can refuse to treat you, except in cases of
medical emergencies...though they rarely do. The docs are as angry (or
angrier) at the health care system as you are.

Hi, I've been in that situation, filed a chap 7 discharged 6 months ago. The
hospital doesn't really care. They are a separate entity from the billing
department here anyway. Heck, I don't think they even talk to each other!
Just pay your post BK bills or work out a plan with them if you can. As for
the doctor, haven't had that problem either but someone I know was denied a
medical visit with her doctor of 6 years because she owed $30 to them that
they had never billed her for. BTW, she had severe pneumonia when the office
call was denied! Frankly I wouldn't want to be seen by a doc that does that.

Good luck:)
