Cleaning up Accounts

We use QW ver: 2003 deluxe.
My question, is there a way to clean up our acounts. We have numerous
that have been sold for years. Is there a way to remove the accounts
but saving them for future referance in need of an IRS audit.

With help from this forum, which is superb, I have been instructed to
start a new file, type all entries into this new file, I can certainly
do this, it will be very time consuming. Would consider another
approach if one is feasible! Thank-You!

In the Security View all accounts are listed, I have tried to hide them
with no success, using the security list, and also the manage accounts
window to hide in "quicken". Thanks in advance!!

You can hide the account. What I've done is to rename the account
"zzWaterhouse" or something similar so it would always show up last. With
this type of naming convention, you will quickly know whether the account is
active or closed>

Hope this helps.

I'm not Steve, but in Q2002 in the Account List, you can rightclick on an
account name, choose edit, and then you can edit the account name. Since
the list is (in my case) at least partially alphabetical, adding a couple
of zz's moves it down the list AND if it remains visible despite "hiding",
the name change implies it is an account that's been put to bed.
