Someone i know has set up a company, but I don;t know the name. Is there
any (free) online directory of company directors that I oculd use to find
out the name of the company?

There's nowhere. If there were, my firm (Big 4) would've found it and
decreed we use it!

The OP was asking for FREE resources so the answer wasnt appropriate
to the OP.

Anything you have to pay for isnt free but the free services dont
provide what the OP wants and the paid for services are too expensive.
