Corrupt file? How do you tell?

Intuit says my Q2004 data file must be corrupt, because I'm unable to
generate some reports. Everything else looks ok, and online updates
are working fine.

Assuming for the moment that they're correct, is there some concrete
way to tell if your data file becomes corrupted? Otherwise, you're
blithely entering new data and generating corrupt backups along the
way, possibly for a long period of time before you notice that
something isn't working right.

Incidentally, I tried Validate and Super Validate, without success...

If your file is corrupt, it has been my experience that your file itself
won't even come up in quicken.

Are you able to generate any reports at all, or just that one in question?

Have you tried to validate the file? .Maybe that would work.

Oh, yes it will. In fact, it's quite possible to have a corrupt file
for a long time before you realize there's a problem. Or you may
never realize it, depending on how you use the program...

So what reports are you having trouble with and what sort of trouble?
My experience is that the file isn't corrupted despite what Intuit says. I
have found a number of distinct bugs that can be reproduced in newly created
files with the correct account settings.

Thanks, I suspect Intuit's immediate reaction to almost any problem is
to blame file corruption. I've started a new file which appears to be
working ok for now. On the other file, none of the investment reports
would appear - click on them, nothing happened. Everything else
appeared to be normal.
