Council flat... holiday rules?

Actually my query is not regarding a "council flat" but a "housing
    trust" flat.

How long do housing trusts allow you to go abroad for? Anyone have
experience with this? Is there a limit? If anyone knows the rules
specifically for Notting Hill Housing (London), that would be great,
but any general idea would be nice.

    Thanks

It can vary even within the same borough. Of the dozen or so housing
associations I know in my borough, 4 have very different ideas about
    away time.
One does allow an old couple I know to winter in Florida (stay with
family) for 4 months, though I daresay they still have to pay rent.
