cpa review courses

I was wondering if I could get some suggestions about CPA review
courses to take. I know becker is good but it is about $2000. I was
wondering if becker is that much better then other review courses?
Also if anyone just took the exam in the past year and is looking to
sell their review material I would be interested.

I took Becker. Hated it. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Sitting in a church basement, flipping through photocopied pages while
listening to a cassette tape of Mr Becker droning on and on and on... is not
my idea of a good review.

After failing the exam the first time out, I took a Yaeger Lambers course.
Found it upbeat, inspiring informative and thouroughly enjoyable.

Passed all four parts on my second sitting.

Unfortunately YL is only offered in the Washington, DC area.

I did notice on their website that they offer a home-study version of their
course on VHS, CD and DVD. Runs around $1,000. Might be worth looking into.

I took Becker. Hated it. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I took Becker in Missouri, could not concentrate (or study) and failed (my
bad not Becker's). We also had to listen to the tapes there.

I believe the location and the quality differs from state to state. Then I
took the course in NJ and it was worth every penny. Passed it with very
high scores.

We were in a conference room in a nice hotel. All the instructors were
great! We never had to listen to any tape. We even had drinks with the
instructors after the exam.

If you ask me I would say go to some free classes they offer and see if it
works for you.
Also a suggestion, whatever course you take, always study from the past
exams. When I took the test, I felt like I knew the answers to many of the
questions.

After being out of school for eight years, I used the Micromash CPA
review course and passed all four parts of the November 2003 exam on
the first try.

I highly recommend it.

I believe the cost is around $800.

to sit the exams too. Does anyone know if there are study forums you
can get on to, so that perhaps people can form study groups to compare
notes in preparation for the big exam?

With courses in the thousands of dollars, is it possible to split the
cost of a single set of review notes?

there are CPA study groups in Yahoo groups also you don't need to pay 000's
for a review course, there are some much less - "Gleims" used to be one,
don't know if they still offer it.

I used Bisk CPA Ready (the software package) and passed all four
sections the first time. I think the software was under $600. When I
ordered it (back in March) they would give a discount if you ordered
through their online chat.
