CREDIT CARD TRANSFERS ETC

I was approached yesterday by Citi to apply for one of their credit cards.
they asked if i wanted to do a credit transfer from my existing card
(capital one) and i said why not.
when i told them my balance was only 200 they werent inpressed and i think
my form went in the bin.

what if id said my balance was 1000 pounds and they had agreed to do the
credit transfer.
would they have paid that 1000 into my capital one account leaving me with a
credit of 800 ?
is that how it works or is that too simplistic.

Was that with Capital One?
Some card's Terms&Conditions have a clause agreeing that the card will never
be taken into credit....

Surely you would then owe 1000GBP to Citi?

I can't remember which card it was transferred to, possibly it was my
beneficial visa. I have never noticed 'no credit balance' in terms before.
What would happen for instance if you paid off your card and then had to get
a refund? obviously the card would go into credit, several of my cards do
have a small credit balance overpaid to avoid any interest charge), none
have ever complained. Beneficial even pay a little interest!

Exactly. Seems like a sudden pile of money to spend but credit cards are a
nice way to get bankrupt.

Ive no intention of paying any of them back and I am just trying to get as
many as possible as quickly as possible and then effing off somewhere warm.
so the 1000 to citi is academic.
