Difference between P45 and P46

I currently contract through my own Ltd company, I'm about to go permie but
I intend not shutting down my Ltd co straight away just in case things dont
work out. I asked my accountant about a P45 but he says because I'm still a
director and not leaving as such I will receive a P46.

Whats the difference, and will the company I am going to work for accept a
P46?

Thanks

Are you sure you aren't confused. You get a P45 when you leave
employment and you complete a P46 when you start employment if you
don't have a P45 from a recent ex employer.

ok, that would make sense as I'm not actually leaving my current
employment
(my Ltd co, although it will be dormant) so would not receive a P45.
I think you can have a p45. You may still be a director of your own company
but you will not be on the payroll. Least ways I've not had any trouble
about it so long as you don't try and get your personal allowance in both
places.
