Hi all, I'm new to this so please be patient. I would like to know if I
purchase and install MONEY 2005, will it continue to download transactions
from my bank into the future, without annual renewal fees. I've been using
QUICKEN XG however they want renewal fees every year to continue the
downloading.
Thank

Every 2 years would be biannual.

I was going to give you a reference on
http://www.microsoft.com/money/ , but that information seems to have
moved.

Oh, wait. You are in Canada. The Canadian offering corresponds to US
Standard. Downloading is more likely to involve going thru the
bank's website for Canadian banks from what I have read.

I don't find Money info on
http://www.microsoft.com/canada/default.aspx

A really neat way to find prior postings in this group is to use the
Google Usenet Groups archive.

http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search enter words that you
think would be in relevant posts into the "all of the words" box.
Enter microsoft.public.money into the newsgroup box. Consider
selecting Sort By Date.

Some terms to include in a search might be RBC or royal.bank.

Thanks Cal
Appreciate your feedback. Will try your suggestion. I have found it
impossible to find out anywhere if Microsoft charges an annual fee to
download from the banks. I can access my banking information online, but
QUICKEN will not allow downloading from my bank into it's software without
continuing to pay an annual fee.

That, I know, does not happen.

What does happen is that the ability to do downloading expires in
two years. You then would have to move to a more current version to
continue downloading.

Pardon me for intruding Cal but am I understanding correctly that if I
want to download from a bank site where the options are to use either
Quicken or Money, I would have to purchase new versions every year for
Quicken or every second year for Money.
Seems to me once I purchase the software I should be able to use it as
long as I want. Why would I need a newer version ?

I think from Microsoft and Intuit's PoV, you've just answered your own
question.

Do the downloads time-out only for stock price updates - or does that include bank downloads also?

Bank downloads too, even where no Microsoft server is involved in
the download. The software looks at the date and times out.

Bummer . I was thinking of starting this but I guess I will just
simply stick with paper bank statements.
Thanks for the education and to you too Peter for starting this
thread.

Also, don't forget the bank's end. My bank doesn't charge to use their
website to download into Money. It does charge a fee to use Money to
download into Money. That sounds a lot more like "fees" to me than the
activation period or whatever it's called.
