DWP: Xmas Bonus

I've got a letter on Friday saying that I will be getting a £10 Xmas Bonus!

I mean, I would have thought that the would be able to give people more then
£10!

Any thoughts?

It's been £10 since the 70s. When it was introduced it was equivalent to a
weeks benefit.

Personally, I think they should abolish it. The Winter Fuel Allowance has all
but replaced it for pensioners and for those in receipt of Incap Benefit, DLA
etc, it's hardly a great amount of money anyway.

Sure they could give more than £10.
Perhaps give £100 - and put VAT up a few percent to pay for it.

I think one of the main points of the benefits system is that it isn't meant
to be so attractive that people stay on it all their lives. Though for some
of us, there aren't many alternitives.
Still, £10 bonus once a year is more than I had in 10 years with one
employer.
There are worse things than getting £10 extra.

Only pensioners get the winter fuel allowance nobody else.Incap benefit,
DLA do not qualify for the winter fuel allowance.
But I think that £10 is hardly worth having since it has not gone up with
inflation in 30 years or so.

Well some people object terribly whenever the suggestion is made that the
five shillings, sorry twenty-five pence, a week extra on Retirement Pension
for those eighty or over should be abolished. So long as the payment is
made there is always the potential for it to go up.

What! you mean you cannot by all your Christmas food and all your presents
for you 2.4 children with £10. Where do you shop M&S.
