Epson TM-T88IV

Anyone know how to make a cash drawer open without printing a receipt?
Printer is a Epson TM-T88IV cabled to a cash drawer. They don't want to be
prompted to print a receipt either. Thanks.

You will need to use OPOS Drivers to do this. They can be downloaded from
the "Epson Expert" Site - I think it is still http://pos.epson.com
Uninstall the Epson Windows driver before installing OPOS.

If you are using Windows drivers for printing, you can use a Serial or USB
connected Cash Drawer and control it indepentetly using it's own OPOS
drivers, but when using a printer controlled drawer with windows drivers the
drawer is only going to pop when something prints. Also it is going to pop
every time something prints - no conditional logic at all...

To get rid of the prompt, go into Register Properties, Receipt Printer 1
Tab, and change from "Prompt before printing" to "Always Print"

Hey Glenn, thanks for your response, I am using windows drivers and I will
install the OPOS drivers and try that. The client doesn't want to print a
receipt at all or be prompted to so I have to set it to do not print a
receipt, if the customer has to have one they will print from the journal.
Once I install the OPOS drivers how do I set the drawer to open on a cash
sale? Thanks again.

If I install the epson TM-T88IV OPOS drivers will I be able to set the cash
drawer to open when no receipt is printed where the cash drawer is connected
via the printer? Or will I have to purchase a USB/Serial cash drawer? If
anyone has this working please let me know. Thanks.

Steven,

SO Manager | Database | Tender Types | select Pop Cash Drawer on each of your tenders you want it to open for

Also make sure that your state laws allow this. Some states _require_ a receipt being given.

Hey Jeff, In Canada so state laws don't apply, I know where to set it up I
just need to know if it will work with the OPOS drivers on the epson printer
TM-T88IV with the cable connected to the cash drawer. Or do I need a new cash
drawer as stated earlier.

Steve,

I seem to remember that BC and/or NF required one, but I'd check just to be on the safe side.

You have 3 options;

I don't do Epsons, but with Stars, as Glenn mentioned;

If you use the Windows printer driver and a printer connected cash drawer, then you have to print something to open the drawer.

If you must use a Windows driver for the printer and you want to control the drawer, you will need USB or Serial drawer, load the OPOS driver for the drawer only to control it.

If you must use an OPOS printer driver, set up the OPOS driver for the printer _and_ cash drawer

If using OPOS, setup the printer and/or drawer in Programs | MS RMS | Configure MS OPOS Service Objects.

Change your Register settings in Database | Registers | Register Lists | Receipt Printer 1 or 2 and Cash Drawer 1 or 2.

Then make your selections in the Tender Types, but only if using OPOS drivers.

Hi Steve,

Yes. The cash drawer will pop even if no receipt is printed.
I wish I could prevent the message prompt also, but I don't know of any way.

You may find that the OPOS drivers work better than windows driver for
printers. You don't need to actually print to use the cash drawer
through the printer.

Hallo

Sorry, but it is unclear to me how to setup the printer AND the cash drawer
through the MS OPOS Service Objects
If using OPOS, setup the printer and/or drawer in Programs | MS RMS | Configure MS OPOS Service Objects.
If I open the MS OPOS Service Object I see a listbox with 6 items: scale,
Scanner, Cash Drawer, Line Display, Signature Capture, PinPAD (no printer)

If a select "Cash Drawer", I can only press the button "new" and another
dialog is appearing with a listbox listing the drivers. I have 3 drivers
listed: SMS.OPOS.CashDrawer.Kc, SMS.OPOS.CashDrawer.HydraKc,
SMS.OPOS.CashDrawer2.HydraKc

I don-t know what to do at this point. Sorry if it is obvious, but I don-t
understand. Could you give me a suggestion to move forward?

I didn-t configured anything in the POSSetup.exe utility installed by the
Epson OPOS Setup (2.50 + SP10)

Thanks a lot

I am having the same problems. Have you figured out the solution yet? And
do you have the OPOS driver for the printer? Please...PLEASE email me a
copy. The tech support is very slow at solving my problem.

Also, my printer is printing one letter off. It won't allow me to adjust
the width. Anyone can help on that one too?

Thanks!

Epson TM-T88

I Have Epson TM-T88V and Ms cash drawer j-184-B. Drawer is currently connected through printer and hence I have to print the receipt to open the drawer. With some 300 transactions a day its a waste of paper. I have to print the receipt because the drawer will have to open to put the cash in (most of the times).

I tried using OPOS from Epson and that messed up things badly. I'm wondering if I can buy a USB interface cable for my current drawer and connect it directly and that way don't have to rely on printer to trigger it.

Please help me out. (you will save the environmental disaster i'm committing as well. :)

thank you
