Does the takeover/bailout affect GNMA funds? If so, how? I don't own any
such funds, by my mother's income, while she lived, was dependent on a GNMA
fund, so I am curious.

Only insofar as the ripple effect of news going through the market.
GNMA site http://www.ginniemae.gov/ states "The only mortgage-backed
security that enjoys the full faith and credit of the United States
Government. So it appears GNMA is already a full government entity where
Freddie and Fannie were more like the Post Office, sort of. i.e. a
separate entity.
