FICA in payslip

Hi,
My salary slip shows "FICA" under deductions.

Can any one tell me what this FICA is?

I left this employer & joined another employer whose salary slip does not have this column at all.

While calculating tax for year 2008, where this FICA should be taken into consideration???

Also, the first employer who is showing FICA, I don't see "Social Security Tax" deductions at all. How is it possible? Does it mean that I did not paySocial security tax when I was with first employer????
