I recently shutdown by solo 401(K) plan through E*Trade. I now need to file form 5500 EZ. I believe I have the form done correctly but I have a question about question number 8. This is question number 8:
8 Enter the applicable two-character feature codes from the List of Plan Characteristics Codes in the instructions.
One of the codes I could enter is: 1A. The description of this code is:
1A - Benefits are primarily pay related
I do not understand what this code means. When would somebody select this code?
I am now thinking that form 1A is for defined benefit plans and therefore would not be selected for a 401(K) plan.
