USA Gaap

Financial statements prepared by GAAP require a Statement of Cash Flows as part of the information provided. Why can't lenders just us the income statement to determine cash flow?

You could show lots of income by accruing income, and no cash actually coming in.
Cash flow statement shows whether or not you actually ARE receiving cash.
