I installed a new hard drive, did a clean install of XP
on it and slaved the old drive (which had Money 2001 on
it). Some of my other programs on the slave drive would
open, but when I tried to open Money 2001, it told me to
reinstall. Thinking I was doing a good thing, I
installed 2003 and then could not find any of my FOUR
YEARS of data! I uninstalled 2003, and tried installing
2001 to the primary drive, but now every time I try to
open it, it tells me to 'reinstall from the original
disk'. I need serious help here! Thanks..
J.

Job #1 is to find your data file(s). Search for .MNY files on both disks.

Once you find your data files, make sure you know where they are and
consider making a copy to something like a writable CD. Don't ever try major
system changes without knowing where your important data is and having
alternate ways to get it back if things go poorly or in unexpected ways.

Then I think you should uninstall any versions of Money installed.

Then I would install M03 and use it to open/upgrade your data file(s). If
you really want to use M01, consider installing it in a different folder.
This may solve the "reinstall" problem. Alternately, I think there are some
articles on "reinstall" in the MSKB for Money. Try
http://support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx?InCC_hdn=true&Catalog=LCID=1033&CDID=EN-US-KB&PRODLISTSRC=ON&withinResults=&QuerySource=gASr_Query&Product=mny&Queryc=reinstall+original&Query=reinstall+original&KeywordType=ALL&maxResults=25&Titles=false&numDays=&InCC=on

Good luck.
